Projects

Projects come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and types.
And, typically we serve clients developing facilities with
one of the following general end uses: Commercial and
Industrial; Institutional; Residential; Municipal; and/or
Recreational. About half of our work includes a
combination of Civil Engineering and Surveying.
However, we do provide Land Surveying and
Topographic Survey/Mapping as a separate service
as needed.

Municipal Projects

West Webster Fire Department: As the West Webster Fire Department developed new stations within the Fire District, Department officials called upon Avery to survey and plan the site for Station #3 at the existing “Y” intersection of State Road and Plank Road. Traffic circulation on site and traffic maneuvers off of and adjacent to the site were key aspects of the project. Therefore, Avery’s site planning included the concept design of a realigned “hook” intersection and coordination with Monroe County DOT and the Town to prove that the site plan would work in harmony with a realigned intersection. Subsequently, the intersection has been changed according to plan.

Gates- Chili Fire Department: Planning a site at the same time that the New York State DOT is planning a substantial highway reconstruction at your front door is a real opportunity, as well as a coordinating challenge. Avery was contracted to meet this challenge, planning the site for the new fire station on Chili Avenue (NYS 33A). The surveying and site planning included the following notable special tasks:
  • NYSDOT coordination to include a new signal in the highway project.
  • MCWA and MCDOH permitting for a hydrant on private land.
  • Town and cellular phone company coordination for a new cell tower.
  • State utility and non-utility permitting for work in the rights of way.
  • Local and County approvals.

Waterline and Sanitary Sewer Extension, Village of Churchville: Detailed design survey and mapping was performed by Avery for 3,300 linear feet of new water line and 2,600 linear feet of new sanitary sewer in the Village. Property surveying services were also provided for utility easements. After construction was completed, Avery also prepared record mapping for the completed improvements.

Richmond Block Site Improvements, City of Lockport: The Erie Canal waterfront along Richmond Avenue, between Ontario and Niagara Streets in Lockport, is taking on a new look thanks to the efforts of area design firms, including Avery. The deteriorated street and buildings adjacent to, and overlooking the canal locks, are being redeveloped in phases. Avery is the surveying and civil engineering component of the team and has been responsible for survey and basemapping, and the design of the storm sewer and a municipal parking lot.

Monroe County Department of Transportation, Culverts: As part of Monroe County’s annual capital program, deteriorated culverts and highway features are rehabilitated each year. Avery was responsible for survey and engineering needed to replace highway culverts on Ogden-Parma Town Line Road and on Bennett Road. Tasks included surveying, mapping, ROW work/easements, culvert design, street design, and construction stakeout for work by County-contracted Town forces.
